This is a photo challenge to take a picture a week, for 52 weeks. We have multiple contributors posting from around the world on the same theme by Sunday night. The weekly themes are listed at the bottom of the page. Enjoy!

Pathway

Out of all the photos I took this week I liked this one because I think the squirrel looks like he is pointing and not towards the path.

Pathway

Peanut (my trail dog) leads the way down a path under the trees.
I like to call this walk the Fairy Forest because I always imagine little fairies and sprites popping out!

Pathway

My little ballerina heading up the unused dilapidated pathway by the front of our house.  I took the picture without her at first but it felt like it needed a subject.

A Pathway

Captured the sweetest family session this week and it fits our theme!     Haleigh, the family's oldest daughter, has just been called by her church to serve a two year mission away from home - so mom asked me to capture some family portraits before Haleigh left.  They specifically wanted the symbolism of a path leading away from home toward new adventures....

If you'd like to see the rest of the family's portraits click HERE.

As the forecast for the rest of the week is for rain I thought I had better make the most of today's lovely sunny weather, so out came the camera............

Nature

Almost forgot to post, but I've got my photo in with 36 minutes to spare!

Nature

My parents (James' grandparents) have had a lake house in Pennsylvania for the last 10 years that they have just sold.  We are so sad, but trying to savor every last minute.

Nature

A baby dove who has made a home right outside our front door in our flower bed.

Nature

Inside something very unnatural, enjoying the subtle difference between lake and sky

Nature

About a month ago Charlotte and I explored a local park 3 minutes from our house.  We found an abandoned rotting boat (obviously a princess was shipwrecked), a house made of sticks (obviously one of the pigs was hiding) and cacti.  The latter was no fairytale... but it was the part that Seb did not believe.  Cactus in New York?  Yes, and I went back today to take photographic evidence!

nature

We were late for school one morning this week because we couldn't help but come to a screeching halt on our front porch when we saw this!  We watched in awe for a good 10 minutes.  Thousands of baby spiders making their way out into the world. There was so much to see (and this photo doesn't capture the half of it).  I would have loved to have a different lens so I could have had a closer look!  Thought I'd come back later in the day to see what they were up to, but (you guessed it!) they were all gone!  Only the web remained.

Nature

I had great visions of showing my husband and daughter around my Alma Mater Middlebury this weekend. Our family has gathered in the Green Mountain State to celebrate my little sister's graduation. And sadly Mother Nature has forced us indoors, even for today's graduation.  This is a view from indoors of what is usually a gorgeous campus setting.  I would normally be lounging in those barely visible adirondack chairs.

Nature

Was quite stuck this week... and left it to basically the last minute in the hope that something would pop up, but this is all I got. It is a Frangipani flower. We have a frangipani tree in our front yard, which blooms with these beautiful flowers. They actually smell really nice too!

Nature

Spent part of this week in Spokane, Washington for a wedding.  We got to explore the downtown area a bit.  The Spokane River goes right through it.  Lots of waterfalls along this little stretch of river.  My photos don't do it justice, especially with the quickly flowing water.

Nature

Spending a long weekend in Vermont for my sister's college graduation and hoped to be outside in nature for much of it. Unfortunately, as seems to be the theme for many of us this week, Mother Nature has given us a cold and rainy weekend, so the best shots I could get were from inside the warmth of my car. Still, this red barn and mountains in the background remind me of why I love this state so much.

Nature

Hoping Mother Nature gives me something more to work with tomorrow but just incase here's a little something growing outside my front door. It's so rainy out that's the furthest place I'm going today.

Nature

I was not going to post this picture because I am trying to stretch myself and flowers always seem to be what I fall back on, however, its been a crazy week and I didn't think I would even get a picture. I almost chose a picture from my trip upstate last week and was prepared to post a Selfie - that's how desperate I was.
BTW, these are my favorite flowers. The original batch of these irises came from my grandmother's garden from 25 years ago.

Nature

Seeking refuge from a sudden, and torrential, downpour yesterday en route to a meeting.
Simple reminder that nature has no concept of the schedules of her inhabitants, nor concern over concrete sidewalks when she wishes a tree to grow.  Funny to see even jaded New Yorkers take pause in the storefront across the street to gawk at the downpour.

Nature:
Moreton Bay Fig (Ficus Macrophylla)The house where we are staying here in Perth adjoins a huge and wonderful park, Kings Park.
We walk in this very special area every day and pass this stunning tree which is very near the house.
It never fails to grab my attention.

Nature

Pretty water lilies in a pool.

Nature

I was able to get this photo of a bird nest that a Sparrow set up in a tree that I have potted on my front porch. Hopefully it is a success.

Nature

Nature is a lovely hummingbird....on a plastic feeder...?!?  (This was hard; however, I know as I gain more experience, hopefully I'll be happier with the outcome!)

Nature

This lil guy was enjoying a tasty lunch of our front yard grass...lucky for me he hung around until I grabbed my camera!

Nature

Mother Nature has reared it's ugly head enough to last a lifetime, particularly in the South. I stayed up late on Monday to watch this thunderstorm, and caught everything but the lightning bolt itself.

Nature

Spring brings new life to the apricot trees.  It will be so nice when these ripen to perfection!

Nature

Stumbled on a three headed rose on my afternoon walk.

Project 52 - Nature

Martin and I bid for the best Auction Prize ever - name a rose.  We named her after our three grandchildren, Charlotte, Annabelle and Charlie.  Well Channabelle was there in all her glory at this year's
Chelsea Flower Show.  A wonderful example of nature at her best.

NATURE

Finally, Mother NATURE has shed her Winter coat and put on her Spring one.  These are are the bluebell woods behind our house together with the newly leafed trees.

Details

The beer I was holding at the fire tonight.  (i just made the deadline haha)  I thought the fire light throught the bottle showed just enough detail..... I just love how this project makes you think about things even while you sit at a fire relaxing!

We were visiting a great friend here in Perth.  She is a well known quilter and I asked her to show me some of her latest quilts... this one is amazing!  My first post!

Details

This is Carrie's coffee table. I love all the detail from the years it has been through. Apparently when Carrie was a little girl, she would stand on this coffee table and sing out pretending she was Annie.

This is a small piece of hand crocheting by a great Aunt that my Mom had framed for me.  Tough to see all the details without viewing it live, but can you imagine all the work that went into this?!

Putting is a work of art. It's all in the details: pitch, speed, accounting for slopes...I certainly have no idea how to putt!

This is a board game that my new Toronto flat mates play. I have very little understanding as to how it works. But the word 'details' certainly comes to mind when I watch them set up for a game

My husband and I are on a weekend getaway for our 15th wedding anniversary. Our server just brought over our check for lunch and I loved the little detail of the 'be nice' band around the bill... And it just happens to be blue. Because nice matters!

Mum found this line of about 10 spitfire caterpillars making the way across our garden the other morning. Thankfully she found them before Morton the puppy did!

While visiting the Hollywood Forever Cemetery today on a fun trip to L.A., I noticed a beautiful stained glass window.  The details of the glass were especially interesting. This is just a tiny part of the window.

I miss Southern California dearly! But in sunny Encinitas, you won't find anything close to the architectural detail work of the countless Victorian homes that make up my charming new New England neighborhood.
