This is a photo challenge to take a picture a week, for 52 weeks. We have multiple contributors posting from around the world on the same theme by Sunday night. The weekly themes are listed at the bottom of the page. Enjoy!

The Sun

I took this picture of the sun shining through our cedar trees in the morning. I have a star filter on my lens so each point of light becomes a star. I was messing around, trying out the filter.

Sun

Begged my hubby to take me for a walk on the beach after dinner last night so I could do my "homework."  He fell for it!  :-)    We found some high surf and a lovely sunset at Windansea Beach.  (Yay for Project 52!)

The Sun

I'm lucky enough to have a view from my backyard from which this was taken.

The Sun

I just returned from a quick vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where I watched the sun rise over the water while being on the West Coast!  It was really the Gulf of California to the east rather than the Pacific, but still quite unusual, right?

Holes

My office building is pentagonal, and it's worth looking up on Google Earth as this photo doesn't do it justice. There's a hole on the 28th floor - quite phenomenal and unique I think!

Hole

Digging and playing in your own hole is the best.

Holes

Icy holes of happy caffeine

Holes

James can spend hours throwing a ball against this pitch-back.  Amazing that the woven material with all these holes has the effect that it does.

Holes

This week, Mum gets to claim the credit for my picture- she came up with the idea for shining a torch through the holes in our sieve (strainer) So thanks Mum! You should see the wall when we move it- we can have our very own disco... strobe lights and all!
If you look to the right of the pattern, you can see the space where a couple of holes are missing... This is due to some rogue pieces of pasta, stuck to the sieve, as we were mid washing up when the idea came to us.

Wen to my favourite store John Lewis specifically to take this photo!  Bystanders thought I had lost the plot! I have touched up the photo a bit and had fun doing so!!

Hole

We are staying with Richard's brother at Diani Beach, Kenya and I thought I had the perfect hole to photograph....a large coral cave with an entrance from above which is now a well known restaurant...but taking a recognisable photo proved impossible for my limited talents.
I was feeling very disappointed when I came across this little crab going into his hole.....

Hole/Holes

Just when you think you are totally stumped for this theme... along comes a peep hole.

The things one makes one's husband do all for the sake of 'art'!  He did struggle to get the golf ball in the hole!!

Hole/Holes

Pitted olives. One of my favorite hors d'oeuvres.

Holes

Messy chefs filling in the holes of a muffin pan.

Hole

Working at the rock quarry, I found a hole in the wall that a bird made a home out of.  A stone wall about a mile long and only one.......

Holes

I had no idea what I was going to do for a photo this week. Then this afternoon I was pulling weeds in my garden and I saw bugs eating holes in my flowers.

Hole/Holes

This is the 'hole' that leads to Queen Elizabeth Park in Bermuda. We just happened to walk through it on the same day that the Royal Baby was born!  So exciting!

Hole

This is a fountain that shoots a beautiful water arc that people can walk under.  The followup picture would be of me soaking wet cause I didn't get out of the way when it moved...!

Hole/Holes

I hope this doesn't gross anybody out, but my dog's nostrils (well, the one you can see) was the only thing for "hole" that I could come up with.  I know, ewwwww.  Sorry...!

Hole

This is an outdoor work of art by Michael Heizer  called" Levitated Mass" on permanent exhibit at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, which is where I happened to be yesterday.  It is a 340 ton granite rock suspended over a 15 foot long tunnel (hole to me!).Quite impressive to me....

Hole/Holes

Found a piece of wood at the curb that I couldn't resist.

Holes

Took some friends to the Zoo today and found one good hole...

Holes

Knew exactly what I wanted to photograph for this challenge...this is a row of Cliff Swallow nests under a nearby bridge, about 20 feet off the ground.

The birds build those nests by picking up mouthfuls of mud from the river bank and then stacking the bits together (like building a brick wall.)  If you look closely, you can see one home in the process of being built.    Aren't they amazing?
There are four already completed homes with babies peeking out of the holes.

Summer

It was a challenge in the heat and haze of this week to think about a summer theme with any romantic notions; however, the weather broke just enough to enjoy the summer pleasure of dining at dusk along the sidewalks of the village.

Summer

Nothing says summer like cartoons and a creamsicle.

Summer

I don't like beer but sometimes, in the middle of the summer, when it is 103F outside... I crave a corona with lime.  Just one... and then I remember that I don't like beer.

summer

Spent the day with my daughter in the park.
A caricature artist helped save the memory with a drawing of my daughter and I.
I was in as long as he gave me a beautiful head of hair!
Ah, summer...

Summer

Summer always means camp to us.  One of the highlights is "tie dye week".  These are just some of the many shirts that James and Luke created over the years.

Summer

My Summer needs explanation.  Air Shows are part of the summer scene in the UK and yesterday one was held at Fairford where the Royal Air Force Acrobatic Team accompanied the first BA A380 into the Show. So this is for the Brits in our Project!  They played Land of Hope and Glory while 110,000 people had a tear in their eye!!  Oh and by the way the planes were moving pretty fast!!

Summer…

My summer photo is an average temperature for Australia graph… I couldn't show on the picture where I live, but if you look at the Australian Government logo, where I live is directly south east from the y in meteorology… on the coast. (Its called Karratha, if you want to google it!)The diagram actually doesn't show exactly how hot our summers get. In mid summer we have full weeks where the temperature reaches a whopping 40+ degrees. Nobody goes outside and the Air conditioners are always on. We are currently in our winter, which means that the temperature gets down to the 20 degree mark… all the jeans and beanies come out! All the temperatures Ive mentioned are in degrees celcius, just incase they all look a bit confusing:) Have a great week everyone!

Summer

One of my favorite summer activities is spending time on the dock.

Summer

What says "summer" more than chilling in the back yard in a T-shirt listening to your favorite music and eating watermelon?

Summertime

Beach Volleyball with friends!

Summer

From Pisa, Italy
First, there is a famous leaning tower and the 'pizzas' have taken a different dimension. Very tasty garden dinner.

Summer

Sunflowers always remind me of summer.  These were at my local farmer's market this morning.  I need to plant some in my yard too.  Maybe next summer...

Summer

What's summer without watermelon?

Summer

A very different view of summer!
We just returned from our summer vacation in Alaska.  This was our favorite moment of the whole trip:  a helicopter flight and then walking on the Mendenhall Glacier.

Summer

Thank you to Kim for allowing my family to create some of the most wonderful summer memories together. Love from us all- especially this guy, who is still negotiating a permanent move to your special place. xxoo

Summer

Summer for me is a farm stand with fruits and veggies.

Summer

This summer we have welcomed some new critters to our garden. Found them yesterday and had to look them up. They are caterpillars known as Parsleyworms (which would explain why we found them feasting on our parsley!). They change into Black Swallowtail butterflies. Can't wait to watch!
