10 minutes from home

Spotted this amazing and magical web on my evening walk 10 minutes from home....

  1. Magical indeed! Wonderful photography - did you use flash?

  2. Thank you! I used a flashlight from the side to give a little bit of shimmer. (And I'll confess I also spritzed it with a mist of water too.) I suppose while I'm confessing, I'll add that I had walked 10 minutes from home when I saw the web, then walked 10 minutes back to my house for the flashlight and mist bottle, then 10 minutes back again!) 30 minutes of walking but STILL 10 minutes from home. lol

    1. Hi Pam. Thank you for the info. How clever to use water mist and side lighting. I will never look at a spider's web in the same way again. You have made work of art into even more of one. Thank you too for the mention about the tube video.

  3. Unbelievable photo! Pam you always amaze me.
I googled spider webs and found a short you tube video of David Attenborough explaining how they manage such strong, interesting webs. I'm on my phone and can't figure out the link but its easy enough to find on a You Tube search.

  6. Pam, I also watched the video. After watching it I now wonder why there is a section of web missing. it does not sound like that is something the spider would have left out on purpose. Once again I have learned something because of the blog. Amazing photo.
