This is a photo challenge to take a picture a week, for 52 weeks. We have multiple contributors posting from around the world on the same theme by Sunday night. The weekly themes are listed at the bottom of the page. Enjoy!
I took this on wednesday morning on my way to work before I left for the lake. Its called Indian Island. To the right is a golf course and way out is the view of the peconic river. Apparently it's where the north and south fork meet. There is a major thoroughfare about 2 feet behind me and the cars were flying past me! It's so peaceful in front of me yet behind was all business.
You are right Lisa. It is an osprey nest, like the one I took at the football field for 'crazy angle'. They set up platforms for them all over the island and the osprey make their nests each year on them. There is one - I am not joking - on top of the fire signal beside our store. Why they chose there instead of a beautiful platform by the water i will never I understand. It is directly on top of 12 extremely loud horns to notify the town of fires.
Looks so peaceful!

ReplyDeleteLove the detail of the sun in the ripple. excellent (peaceful) shot, makes one sigh...
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely shot. What is that pole (or tree?) in the center of the photo? It sort of looks like a bird's nest.
